Battlefield 2 patch 1.5 coming Tuesday September 1st!

Finally ... after nearly a year of development and three public beta tests Battlefield 2 v1.50 is ready for release! The update will be released on Tuesday 1st September at 5pm UK, 6pm Europe.

As part of Update 1.50 we are glad to announce that not only is Highway Tampa now a required install included in the update but Euro Forces (Great Wall, Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen) and Armored Fury (Midnight Sun, Operation Harvest and Operation Road Rage) is now FREE for all Battlefield 2 players. Including the brand new map, Operation Blue Pearl this brings EIGHT new maps that everyone can play and will be added to ranked Battlefield 2 servers world wide. The Booster Pack content is included in the update and has made the file just over 2Gb in size.

Server providers around the world will have access to the client file so find your closest host for best download speeds. To install Battlefield 2 Update v1.50 you must have Battlefield 2 updated to version 1.41 or Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from EA Store installed. Thank you to all of the EAUK Forums (http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2/) members who have given feedback and requests during the development of this update.

The full change log for Update 1.50 is as follows:

  • Players can now pass claymores by going prone
  • Update the HUD on TV Guided missiles to increase visibility on maps like Dragon Valley
  • Added Battlefield 2142 style prone deviation (going prone will now cause reduced accuracy for a brief period)

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed the issue where MEC artillery piece on Operation Clean Sweep changes to the USMC's control when they capture the Airfield flag
  • Updated the Challenger2 HUD to show the correct icon instead of the M1A2 HUD icon
  • Changed a PLA FAV to MEC FAV on Road to Jalalabad

  • Increased the splash damage of the UH-60 (Black Hawk) guns from 0.25 to 1.5
  • Updated the G36E HUD to react the same as other weapons during sprint

Dust off your BF2 discs and stay tuned for the patch release on Tuesday!

So what do you think about this news? Was it worth it waiting?

look at it this way , at least:
you wont have instalation problems
you have more people to play with
there will be way more servers who run those maps

overall you will have a much better experience even if you wasted a few extra $'s

sounds great, but will party when its on my pc and working ;-)
We been waiting quite a while now and the maps they´ve added was mandatory for the whole BF2 community, tbh.

Too true dude.
I'm just glad they've, "Tweaked the hit detection, hits will be more accurate to the model"

no more knifing fools, hearing them get stuck by the blade, seeing the hit dust from there player.... and them not dying!!
that makes me shout at my monitor telling it to, "fux off!" and "that's pish! git tae fux!!!" :tongue2:

hopefully no more :w00t:

I've played thousands of hours of BF2 on line and to fix the bugs and stop the cheating is great but changing the vehicles, helicopters, AA and response times and damage level is complete disaster. The game play was a perfect balance before, so much better and so much more fun compared to Battlefield Bad Company and now the most dominant forces in the sky will be even more dominant? The jets and helicopters rule the whole game as it is, if anything they should be less powerful and have less visibility. These changes will cause all players on the ground to be destroyed even easier than before which will slowly be the end of BF2, way to go EA

I agree their should have given the ground troops the upper hand too meny chopper/aircraft whores in game already spoil it for the rest.

HOLY SHIT DUDE coz of u they messed it up in the first time with 1.4, whine whine whine aircrafts are too powers "cry"cry" . Isnt an airplane suppose to be more powerfull .. coz it "FLIES"

you should quit playing bf2 coz I saw your stats and it seems u only play ONE map. Not surprised you whine and cry all the time.

I Clap to Dice for FINALY doing something about the constant crashes . maybe they wont be as constant now. And wow Dice good job on the maps.

Ps: excuse my spelling.

And about time you made the blackhawk gunz do more damage than a pistol.

Finally!

I've been playing the 1.5 betas for sometime now. Glad to see the final release! As a ground-pounder I really hate aircraft at times, however, I'm glad to see AA get tweaked, the J-10 & F-35 balanced AND the miniguns on the Blackhawk actually worth using!

I'm sure some will whine about Blue Pearl when they are on the U.S. side, but it's really no more differcult than Clean Sweep and Jalalabad. Operate as a team and it becomes really easy. Try to lone-wolf it and get nowhere.

DICE has done a good job with 1.5!

I'm very happy this is coming out. I've waited for it for so long. Hopefully it will renew some interest in the game for me so I can finish up and get my 3rd star.

Ill be interested to see how the TV missile view is changed. That and Wake Island balance issues. Hopefully it will make my ownage even easier.
