Earning TEAM score as recon?

I always have a poor team score and Im not sure how to increase it as recon. Ive seen +squad/commander points but Im usually super low or even in the negatives with accidental tk's :/

Do you get team points for defending silos and destroying consoles? What about completeing orders giving by the commander/sl?

I don't get many team points either. I can tell you When an order is given try to be close to it, because anything you do inside gets squad points. You do not get extra points for completeing orders. You can unlock the Lambert so you can get closer to the battle.

Im a silver sgt now. Recon is totally unlocked along with some personal and squad. My K-D ratio is about 1.0+(i'll check it when I get home) which isnt that great, but I tend to suicide on the titan like a noob everyonce and a while.
I had 20+ TP's one game and Im not sure how I did it. I was like 30-15 k-d ratio that game. And I defended the heck out of the titan.

If your playing titan mode, every kill you get on a titan (enemy or friendly) gets you 1 extra point (+titan attack bonus, +titan defend bonus) in the form of a team point. Kill damage assists give you team points, following squad leader orders gives you team points, destroying titan consoles, commander toys, reactor cores... too many more to name.

But yeah. That's how.

with the ugraded sniper rifle you can destroy enemy Mines, RDX, etc. Would be nice if you would get teamscores for that =) To be honest i never tried that.

i cap flags/silos...thats my biggest tp for recon..... using the camo suit while circling around the silo/flag is a good idea......

as for titan defend/attack, i ussually dont use recon, but hey , when its claymore spamming time to defend ur titan....umm...yeah, lotsa teampoints lol

there is nothing a recon can do to get teampoints that another role can not do.

I think thats the point of topic starter.

Offcourse he can use other "ways" to get points like explosives, but it is still the same.

My dismay is that I try to be a team player as recon but my ts doesnt show it. I need to cut down the tk's(all are accidental)...
If you kill yourself with your own RDx, is that a suicide and does that hurt your score/ts?

I always play Titan as recon. Been playin Conquest awhile in BF2 got tiredof it.

As recon i launch myself on my own titan and place APM mines in upper level. that way you get +1 titan defend and the defend pins and explosive pins and all that.

I get scores like 145 and a Global score of 263 with all the pins and badges :D

dont misunderstand me now please, i actually like the titan mode. But it pisses me off that you get so much lower points in good old Conquest mode. That seems to be the DICE strategy to hype their "oh so great buggy Titan mode".

;/

You actually need no skill to get points in titan mode ;/
Its like: Hey, i spam around a bit, and get awarded with 20 points for killing 8 people.... really balanced against conquest.

To get team points as a squad member or even a leader, commands need to be issued. As long as you or the enemy is withing the order radius, you get the points.

For example; you can have an order to cap a silo. The rest of your squad goes rushing over to the silo, while you stay back at a distance and snipe guys. You get squad success points because the enemies are within the order radius. As a squad leader, you can do the same thing, except the advantage is that you get to pick the point to assault/defend, so you can get into a good sniping position, then lay down the order and when your squad rushes in, you get a ton of success points. Being out at a distance means the squad can spawn on you and be a safe distance away, though they will ahve to run to the silo again, and if the enemy sees where everyone is coming from, youll be a target soon. Dropping the SLB is another option, but that is a horrible idea if you are recon, since it draws quite a bit of attention.

Dont forget, you can also give commands to attack or defend titans, but theres always too much action on the screen for me to notice if I got titan bonuses along with squad bonuses for my kills. Perhaps I will check that out tonight to verify this info, but if you get them both, then thats 3X the normal points you get per kill, which is pretty good if I do say so myself.

I think all of you forgot the first role of a recon player, esp from BF2 = BLOW THE ENEMY ASSETS!!!

You get 4 team points for this, and if the commander continues to drop supplies, you can do it again.

Cap flags, defend/attack titan, and blow enemy assets to get yourself team points.

I dont usually play titan b/c i hate the game mode.It sucks IMO. But for team points,I wait for my SL to give me a attack here command.Once given,I pick a sniper spot, and start sniping people that are in the OR(objective Radius) and i get points for it nd get points for FU's (field Upgrades).Thats what I do.It may or may not help.

End of the day, recon is a dedicated combat class. Being a mixture of Spec Ops and Sniper from BF2, neither of which had any team supporting abilities.

Getting to the squad leader position in alpha or bravo at the beginning of a round would be a good bet for all the squad leader success points, just make sure you're issuing plenty of order markers.

as far as the squad leader order markers, I wish more people who are squad leaders would do this.

Also another thing to remember is not to point your squad at a flag thats far away because any kills they get won't show; make sure to issue a defend flag order if your squad is being boxed in by a rushing enemy.
So many times commanders issue a capture flag point at a back flag that is so far away from the action, I end up declining the action because I want to get squad points, so I always look at the <TAB> screen and big map so that I can see where most of my squad is and order a attack/defend around that flag (many more points).

ps
another thing esp on titan mode is if your squad is attacking/defending the titan issue an order to the closes flag and hopefully the titan is close enough to get you squad points. For some reason squad leaders don't do this as much on titan mode.

They're the only ones that can destroy commander assets. Those give a lot of points.

Sorry, not replying to anyone here. Its my own opinion

Recon in my opinion isnt good for Titan mode. Yer, you can snipe people from far away who try and take a base, but what if they are in a vehicle?

You need to be assault, or an engineer.

Either be assault to be the defense team on your own titan once the shield are down, or be the attacking team, with assault and protect your engineers as they destroy the control panels and the core. There are many spots to hide in while defending your own titan, and while finding spots on the enemies titan too.

I know this is basic, but its my opinion.

Maybe its because im still new to the game, and thats just my way of thinking.

I find that Recon is one of the best classes to play after the titan shields go down, right alongside Support. The APM mines + crowded corridors = massive score.

good point!

but

for titan defense (not silo attack/defense/takeover), no matter how much hate people mentions, CLAYMORE is still the best way to protect ur titan. (RDX is overrated, but can work as well)

Sentry gun/turret is another thing to hold the corridor.

so, i would say

recon/support is suitable for titan defense (probably couple of medics to revive the defense party)

engineer is the name of the game for silo protections... sure u can have a couple of medics/assault to hold the ground, or support/recon to defense an unprotected silos wit the turrets and clays,
but nothing beats an engineer, a couple of motion mines, plus a handful of walkers and tanks... to protect the ground silos.

having that said, recon is good for titan defense, back on topic though... hey, guess what? titan defense gives u team points :)
